The Tin Angel Cafe

Tin Angel Cafe

Our first trip to The Tin Angel Cafe was thwarted by a sign on the door proclaiming their closure due to the co-owner's wedding. Always fans of love, we revised our lunch plan to include a stop at another less than stellar new spot in town, which shall remain nameless.

So, by the time we made it back to The Tin Angel Cafe this past weekend, we were more than eager to try the cozy new cafe offering fresh, seasonal cuisine in an unpretentious setting.

Breasola Carpaccio
Breasola Carpaccio - $8

Egg Croissant
Egg Sanwich with Manchego and Roma Tomatoes - $7
Cup of Spinach Fontina Soup

Breasola sandwich 2.JPG
Breasola Sandwich - $9

The menu has some easy selections, such as the arugula and sliced beets salad and a three cheese baguette. I was especially fond of the dainty teacups and saucers, which reminded me of coffee hour at my late grandmother's house--sans the dish of Brach's candy.

The foccacia bread for the Breasola Sandwich looks really really good. I'm a sucker for great bread.

As a matter of fact, the foccacia was quite delicious. They told us that the bread is made locally, but I cannot remember which bakery.

It has been a busy Holiday Season...and we've been lazy. We are headed to Mexico tomorrow, and hopefully we'll come back with a few stories to share. Fish tacos here we come!
Thanks for visiting.

We're coming thru SLC in a few weeks, staying downtown, would love to have dinner at an independent that sources locally. Is Tin Angel what you'd recommend?

Valereee,

I wish I could recommend one place downtown that focuses on purely locally sourced food, but they all seem to only dabble in the concept. Here is a brief listing of downtown restaurants that offer some locally sourced foods:

Acme Burger - grass fed beef burgers
Cafe Martine - serves Morgan Valley Lamb
Paris Bistro - Serves Morgan Valley Lamb
Tin Angel - Some locally sourced items
Oasis Cafe - Excellent Patio for Brunch
Sage's Cafe - Vegetarian Organic

If you are craving a certain type of cuisine let me know and I'll give you a list of our favorites. Good Luck.

Thank you! I think we'll try the Tin Angel! The dh is also lobbying to hit Squatters, so we'll probably end up there at some point, too.

Hi! We did come thru SLC in June and did eat the The Tin Angel. I'm getting ready to post a review, and the photos I took aren't as good as the one of the patio you've got posted at Flickr. Would it be possible for me to use your photo, with credit? If so, let me know how you'd like to be credited, and of course I'd link to your review (unless you'd like me to link to your home page or some other part of your blog.)
